Zainab Abbas is Deported (Cricket World Cup 2023)
It is no surprise that Zainab Abbas, a renowned sports presenter, was among the people arrested and deported to Pakistan while covering the ICC World Cup in India. She was accused of making abusive posts on social media that were disparaging to India and the Hindu religion. The allegation is according to an Indian lawyer who filed a complaint against her.
Abbas has dismissed these accusations and believes that she has been singled out unfairly. According to some sources, it is argued that ‘Indian propaganda’ made it impossible for the International Cricket Council (ICC) to stop her deportation.
Those close to Zainab contend that the old Twitter she is accused of is not related to her work as a presenter, and she shouldn’t be deported to India. However, the ICC has not yet commented on the issue.
It is also important to note that the case against Zainab Abbas was initiated with the use of old tweets that have been circulated through social media and are claimed to have content that is ‘anti-Hindu’. This is important because the ICC chose Zainab Abbas as the official presenter for the ICF Cricket World Cup. Currently, she is in Dubai.
